Mags Creative is looking for an exceptional producer to join our dynamic, innovative team and lead on the production of an award-winning, daily children’s show for a fixed-term 12-month maternity cover contract.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of producing high quality content for children, working on always-on shows, writing scripts for little ears, directing talent, managing client relationships and liaising with editors and sound designers.

Why this role is important to Mags Creative

We’re incredibly proud of the content of the show, which is a mix of entertainment and education for children aged 4-7. It is important to us – and the dedicated listenership we have built – that the quality and accuracy of the show remains at a consistently high standard – and we’re looking for someone to bring creativity, organisation and passion to this project.

About you

  • You have worked on ambitious audio projects for 5+ years, with experience crafting shows that keep the listener coming back for more
  • You must have produced always-on shows (rather than limited-run series), ideally daily shows
  • You have experience of script-writing and understand how to adapt language to the appropriate age range (in this case, 4 – 7 years old)
  • You know how to get the best out of talent and are comfortable running remote recording sessions via Riverside (episodes are recorded in bulk over several days per month)
  • You have experience being the main point of client contact and are confident leading weekly update meetings and ensuring the client provides feedback on time
  • You enjoy working as a part of a team, and you have experience leading projects and managing teams of writers/researchers, talent and editors
  • The successful candidate will have a 4-6 week handover period working alongside the current producer

Skills

  • You have brilliant writing skills, you take pride in being grammatically accurate and you enjoy creating engaging scripts. While we work with writers on this show, this role involves a considerable amount of writing and script editing
  • You understand the importance of accuracy and ensure that all content is factually correct. This project is an ‘edutainment’ show that educates as it entertains. For this reason, the role involves liaising with an education consultant to ensure the content is age appropriate, and incorporating their feedback into the production
  • You can implement and manage a tight production schedule, juggling moving parts and pulling everything together. This is especially crucial as the show is daily
  • You have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • You demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently and within a team
  • You’re positive and have a can-do attitude
  • You enjoy working in fast-paced environment and handle pressure well
  • You are comfortable working across G-Suite, Slack and Riverside remote recording

Package

  • £40,000 – £45,000 pro rata dependent on experience
  • 30 days annual holiday (excluding bank holidays)
  • Annual personal development allowance
  • Access to flexible coworking spaces across London
